So the other night at work, I fell asleep. I was a little embarrassed… I’m new, so its understood that getting adjusted to the schedule will take some time, but really?

I had to do something!

Coffee – by the way – doesn’t work anymore. I’m immune, after years of addiction and misuse

So, I gave 5 hour energy a try.

I was really skeptical…

But guess what – it really worked!

FYI – It tastes like crap… but I can safely say it gave me the energy I needed to make it through the 1am-5am window – with energy to spare!

So if you are looking for a little boost – you might give it a try.

From Me to You: Gummy Vitamins!

This is a new “feature” on my blog and is intended to provide you, the reader, with amazing tips about totally useless things that I find very valuable. Its absolutely, completely free too!!

They aren’t quite candy and they taste a little suspect, but if you have “issues” with swallowing pills like I do – then these are worth trying!

For years, every year, I would go to some pharmacy and try to find a “small” multivitamin …you know - the ones made for a human and not a freakin’ horse.

Lesson learned: regardless of the packaging, all multivitamins are incredibly large, monster pills.

I have issues… Monster pills and I do not get along.

These things are like manna from heaven! Now I can chew (and almost enjoy) taking my vitamins!!

…just think how healthy I’m gonna be when I turn 40 next year and die!

From me to you: The truth about Love

I used to have a really sappy view of love. It was all romance and glitter and puppy dog eyes…

I’ve performed many weddings. I’ve also done my fair share of prenuptial counseling. When a guy and a gal are “in love” there’s really not much they care to listen to, regardless of how profound your insights might be.

Here’s the truth.

Love is hard.

Love is not “easy.” …infatuation is easy. Lust and romance and hormones are easy. Falling in love is easy.

Staying in love is not easy.

True love is quite hard – but its also worth it.

It takes work – but the effort is returned a million fold.

True love is an amazing thing. It surprises you with grace and forgiveness and courage and …pretty much anything that is good.

The apostle Paul said it this way: ^“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

I dare you to read through that a few times. Move beyond the emotion of the words and dig into the practical difficulties of loving like that. …who else likes to keep a record of wrongs? …I have a hard time rejoicing in the truth …and don’t even get me started on patience.

Do you love like that?…how does your love compare with that passage?

If you don’t love like that - can you really call it love?

…and for some of you, blessed like me to have someone that loves you like that…

How did we ever get so lucky?

From me to you: Simple coffee…

This has to be one of the goofiest purchases I have ever made! But oddly enough, it works – and makes a really simple, good, cup of coffee.

I first learned about the AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker from Ben Collin’s blog and this post right here. FYI – He does a really good job of explaining the pros and cons, if you are into that sort of thing….plus, he’s a really talented triathlete too.

I bought it mainly for one reason – I don’t have a coffee maker in Oklahoma City and I like having a morning cup (and/or evening cup) of coffee. For a lot of very goofy reasons, I have refused to buy a new coffee maker or bring mine up from home. I also don’t like just running up to 7-11 whenever I want a cup of coffee, and Starbucks is something I try to limit to once a day

Here’s what I’ve discovered…

• It makes a great cup of coffee
• I can use our (really) hot tap water – which is good, because I don’t have a microwave
• It cleans up very easily, and its super simple to use

The downside(s)?

• One cup at a time can be a little bit of a pain – although, it can make more than one cup at a time (assuming you have a really large cup)
• You are limited to the temperature of your water. It doesn’t have any internal or external heating element…

 

From Me to You: Computer settings

This is a new “feature” on my blog and is intended to provide you, the reader, with amazing tips about totally useless things that I find very valuable. Its absolutely, completely free too!!

I got a new “work” laptop sometime this past year.  For the most part, it’s great. I like it. It is a p.c. – but hey, it was free and faster than what I was using…

As much as I like the new laptop however, it’s had one little, incredibly infuriating, problem. Whenever I type anything over two sentences, the cursor would move randomly to some previous point in the text. That might not sound like that big of a deal, but imagine typing along, and suddenly without warning all the text you are typing shifts to some totally random other place on the page. I would have to locate the text, then erase said text, make sure the former text was back to normal, then retype… That gets old fast!!

But yesterday I finally broke down and explored the mouse settings.

It turns out there’s a little “click-able” setting that allows you to shut off your mouse when you are using the keyboard. AMAZING!!

So if you have a similar problem – click it, and you’ll fix it!!
